Jill's signature yoga class challenges your perception on asana and dives into a deep exploration of the anatomical attributes and muscle actions in each posture. Each of her speciality classes is like spelunking into the body and revealing, through muscle action drills and intricate flows, the strengthening necessary in each at the deepest layer. The keen focus & depth that Jill facilitates "ah-ha" moments on your mat as well as accelerated growth of your strength, flexibility and knowledge.
This week her special class will explore deep forward folding, bringing the legs close to the body and possibly behind the shoulder to experiment with Compass Pose, Firefly (Tittibhasana), and Eka Pada Koundinyasana (One-Legged Pose of the Sage Koundinya). These poses carry mythological significance, adding lightness and inspiration to the practice:
Compass Pose symbolizes guiding oneself towards true self-discovery. Achieving this pose can feel like finding true North after preparing thoroughly and respecting individual body needs, revealing insights into our relationship with ourselves.
Koundinyasana, named after the sage who predicted Buddha's path, embodies the balance between effort and ease, fundamental in Buddhism's Middle Path philosophy.
Firefly pose radiates outward from within, blending elements of Compass Pose and Koundinyasana to shine brightly.
Join us to explore these poses, whether you find yourself airborne or grounded, and enjoy opening the side body, hamstrings, hips, and sacrum. Expect to feel supple and invigorated after this practice—come join the fun!
