Introduction to Meditation with Michelle Fryback

  • Kefi Yoga 23812 Crenshaw Blvd Torrance, CA (map)

Have you tried meditation and felt like you were not doing it “right” or did not get what you “should” out of it because you could not quiet your mind? Most people feel this way when they start a meditation practice. What if I told you these are all “shoulds” and myths. What if I told you some people never have a “quiet mind” during meditation and it is still effective. Let’s destroy these myths together and stop the “shoulding” on ourselves. After all, myths are for busting.

This free workshop is designed to:

1. Bust myths and “shoulds” about meditation

2. Explain physical, neurological and psychological benefits of meditation

3. Simplify the practice of meditation

4. Help you determine what your goals for meditation are

5. Set you up with a meditation practice that you can stick with

6. Deepen your meditation practice

Michelle grew up in the South Bay where she’s been providing therapy for 22 years. In her private practice she focuses on connection, mindfulness, communication, self-awareness, and acceptance. She was born with an inherent gift of intuition, communication and understanding people in a deeper, and more direct way. She spent most of her twenties depressed with overwhelming anxiety. This difficult time resulted in a profound growth experience, and an understanding that during the dark times we grow the most. In 2005 Michelle began studying Buddhism with Revered Hye Wol Sunim at the Insight Center in West LA where she learned Buddhist meditation, aka. Vipassana meditation. For the first time in her life, she found a sense of calm in the midst of the storm. Her anxiety and reactivity subsided and she has been practicing and teaching meditation ever since. Michelle holds a Masters degree in Marriage Family Therapy, is a Certified Gestalt therapist, a certified Yoga teacher, and Level 1 Reiki certified. Michelle is an avid Yogi, Surfer and animal lover. She enjoys horseback riding in PVE and sailing with her husband, Dan. One of her favorite pastimes is hanging out at home with her Dog, Luna, her two cats WallE and Kismet and any other animal that might find her.
